I spent this year's fourth of July in two completely different worlds. The first was a pleasant lunch that included pigs in a blanket and fries on a set dining table with the boyfriend's family. It was very nice. After enjoying a calm and safe environment, we ventured out to the country with my family where we partook in a typical southern exhibit of patriotism.
Explosives.
There were many close calls including one where an lit fuse flew back onto my shirt almost lighting it on fire. Thankfully it didn't. It wouldn't have been a holiday if it were safe with my family. We were breaking in my cousin's first home and most of the time, I was afraid it would be there last night with it still in tact. Everyone left that night with their limbs and faces. But there's always the next morning. When the sun mercilessly shines light onto the damage in the yard. Which it did, and there was a lot of trash to be picked up.
But all is said and done. Everyone had a blast-literally. There was good food, good friends, and good fun.
Overall, the day wasa success.
